Nick Walker

Head of Product Development (R&D)

Nick Walker is Blatchford's Head of Product Development, based at Bond Close. He joined the company in March 2021 as Head of Mechanical Engineering and expanded his role in January 2023 to oversee a more comprehensive set of responsibilities. 

He started his career with a Technician Apprenticeship at a road sweeper manufacturer in Cambridgeshire, England. During this time, he studied mechanical design, production engineering, and supervisory management. His career spans over 30 years, with leadership roles in diverse industries, including toys, personal computers, and orthopaedic medical devices. 

Before joining Blatchford, Nick managed a global mechanical design team at GE Aviation, overseeing groups in Cheltenham and Warsaw. His teams designed complex Electrical Management Systems for major aircraft manufacturers such as Boeing, Lockheed Martin, and Gulfstream. 

Witnessing his engineering teams’ creativity and problem-solving skills. He is consistently impressed by their ability to tackle complex design challenges and deliver optimal solutions through cross-functional collaboration. 

Nick enjoys unwinding by fishing, spending time in nature outside of work, and sitting by the river, relaxing and in peace.
