Blatchford would like to extend our warmest congratulations to Ray Smith, on being awarded The Limbless Association’s outstanding prosthetic technician of the year!
With nearly three decades of dedication to building over 8,000 limb parts for patients, Ray's expertise and commitment have not gone unnoticed.
Ray, a prosthetic technician at The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust, has played a crucial role in enhancing the lives of countless individuals through his work with carbon fiber, metal, and resin limbs. His bespoke creations, crafted in collaboration with patients, clinical prosthetists, and physiotherapists, exemplify his unwavering dedication to their well-being.
"I’m very pleased and proud to be recognised with this award. I’ve worked in this industry for 27 years, and to receive this recognition is overwhelming, especially coming from this charity because these people it helps are our bread and butter," says Ray.
Trevor Gallivan, Outreach Coordinator (Midlands) from the Limbless Association, adds, "We are aware of the unsung heroes who are key in the rehabilitation of all amputees. It was a pleasure to present Ray with his award. Regardless of how sophisticated a prosthetic is, its effectiveness is dependent on the skill of the prosthetic technician to ensure a good fit."
We at Blatchford are proud to be associated with Ray's incredible journey, and we extend our heartfelt congratulations to him. Click below to read the story of Ray's remarkable achievements and his work's impact on changing amputees' lives.
