Blatchford Gold Sponsor of ISPO 40th Anniversary Congress

On September 27th/28th ISPO UK held its National Member Society’s 40th anniversary meeting in Sheffield. The event, held in collaboration with BAPO and BACPAR, brought together rehabilitation experts from across the disciplines for a packed programme of scientific papers, social events and an exhibition showcasing the latest developments in Prosthetics, Orthotics and seating.
Blatchford Clinical Services, Gold Sponsor of the event, welcomed 60 conference attendees to our offices and factory in Atlas Way for live demonstrations of manufacturing, gait analysis, prosthetic patient demonstrations and product displays. Visitors chatted to Blatchford staff members who welcomed them into their specialist areas to look at the technology and developments in the technical end of product production. Discussions spilled out into the supper event that gave our colleagues a chance to catch up with industry friends on the night.
The conference, opened by Sir Andrew Cash, CEO of STHT, explored research and development in the field and some excellent clinical papers and poster presentations stimulated positive audience debate and participation in questions. Joe McCarthy, Consultant Prosthetist at Blatchford, won the Best Free Paper prize for 2012. This success was followed by Stephen Blatchford’s announcement that Blatchford would be doubling sponsorship of the ‘Blatchford Lecture’, now in its 17th year.
A real buzz was generated by the arrival of Paralympians Richard Whitehead and Scott Moorhouse, whose success at the games gave ISPO attendees an opportunity to reflect on some of the best reasons for working in rehabilitation!
